Craig E. Cheifetz, MD

Craig Cheifetz, MD, FACP, serves as a senior advisor to D3D focusing on integration of D3D into hospitals. Dr. Cheifetz is the VP, Corporate Health and Premium Services for Inova Health Systems. Dr. Cheifetz is the Regional Dean of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus and Director of the Inova Office of Undergraduate Medical Education. He has received several “Golden Apple” teaching awards. Dr. Cheifetz has been an integral part of Inova and the Inova Fairfax Hospital medical staff for more than 15 years. He was recognized in 2012 for outstanding achievement by the American College of Physicians when he received the Walter J. McDonald Award for Young Physicians. He was also the 2011-2013 Chair of the AAMC Group on Regional Medical Campuses, which represents the interests of regionally located medical schools in the United States and Canada. 

 

Dr. Cheifetz received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received the Philip P. Sang award for outstanding communicator with patients, faculty and staff. He completed his internal medicine training at Georgetown School of Medicine, earning the ACP Donald Steinweg award for outstanding resident clinician and educator. Dr. Cheifetz is one of a select few medical educators certified by Stanford School of Medicine to teach other doctors how to teach. He also received the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area Human Rights Award for his work with political refugees.
